Terms of Sale

These terms apply when you pre-order a book from us through this website. They sit alongside our Terms & Conditions, which cover use of the website itself. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.

Who we are

Cupid's Bow Ltd (Companies House number: 17109951), trading as Cupid's Bow Books. Our registered office is 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE.

Our shop, and the place you collect orders from, is Unit 3B, Fargo Village, Far Gosford Street, Coventry, CV1 5ED.

Who we can sell to

We accept pre-orders for collection from our Coventry shop only. We do not deliver, and we do not ship anywhere in the UK or overseas. Please only place an order if you are able to collect it in person, or arrange for someone else to collect it on your behalf.

Because of this, we ask for a UK phone number at checkout so that we can contact you when your copy arrives. These terms, and any contract made under them, are governed by the law of England and Wales.

What a pre-order is

From time to time we offer a limited number of copies of a particular book — often a signed or special edition — before it is published or before it reaches the shop. You reserve and pay for your copy in advance, and collect it from the shop once it arrives.

We only list a pre-order when we have a firm arrangement with the publisher for the copies. Where we give an expected arrival date, it is our best estimate based on what the publisher has told us, and it can move. We will keep you updated if it does.

Placing an order

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract between us comes into existence when we email you to confirm the order. If we cannot accept your order, we will tell you and refund any payment in full.

You will receive a confirmation email containing your order reference, what you ordered, what you paid, and details of your right to cancel. Please keep it — you will need the reference to cancel.

Price and payment

The price shown at checkout is the price you pay. It includes VAT where applicable, and it will not change after you have ordered. There is no delivery charge, because orders are collected from the shop.

Payment is taken in full when you place your order. Card payments are processed by Square. We never see or store your full card details.

Collection

Pre-orders are for collection from our shop only. We do not deliver or post pre-ordered books as standard, although you are welcome to ask and we will do what we can.

We will contact you by email or telephone as soon as your book arrives and is ready to collect. Please bring your order reference with you.

Your right to cancel

Because you are ordering at a distance, you have the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. You do not need to give a reason.

You may cancel at any time between placing your order and 14 days after the day you collect it. As pre-orders are placed well in advance, this usually means you can cancel for several weeks or months.

To cancel, you can:

• Use the cancellation form on our website at /pre-order/cancel
• Email us at cupidsbowcoventry@gmail.com with your order reference
• Write to us at the shop address above, using the form at the end of these terms if you wish

To meet the cancellation deadline, it is enough that you send your cancellation before the 14-day period expires. We will acknowledge your cancellation by email without delay.

If you have already collected your book, please return it to the shop within 14 days of telling us you are cancelling. You are responsible for the cost of returning it if you choose to post it rather than bring it in. You are only liable for any reduction in the value of the book caused by handling it beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning.

Refunds

We will refund you in full, using the same payment method you used to pay, within 14 days. Where you have already collected the book, we may withhold the refund until we have received it back or you have supplied evidence of having sent it, whichever is earlier.

Orders that are not collected

We will hold your book at the shop for one month from the day we email you to say it has arrived. That email will tell you the date we need you to collect by, and we will endeavour to remind you before it passes.

If you have not collected it by the end of that month and have not been in touch, we will treat the order as cancelled, refund you in full, and return the book to our shelves. You will not be charged for this.

If we cannot supply your book

Occasionally something outside our control may prevent us from supplying a book we have accepted an order for — for example, if the publisher cancels the edition. If that happens we will tell you as soon as we can and refund you in full. We will not be liable for anything beyond that refund.

Faulty or damaged books

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected by anything in these terms. Books must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If what you receive is faulty or not as described, please tell us and we will repair, replace or refund as appropriate.

Signed and special editions are handled with care, but minor variations in signature placement, edge colouring and finish are characteristic of these editions rather than faults.

Complaints

If something has gone wrong, please contact us at cupidsbowcoventry@gmail.com and we will do our best to put it right. We aim to respond to all complaints within five working days.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Model cancellation form

You do not have to use this form, but you may find it helpful. Complete and return it only if you wish to cancel your order.
